Section 5.2 currently contains the following basic structure for variables:
&lt;variables&gt;?
   &lt;variable name="BPELVariableName" 
      messageType="QName"?
      type="QName"? 
      element="QName"?/&gt;+
&lt;/variables&gt;
But it should be (see chapter 8.1):
&lt;variables&gt;
   &lt;variable name="BPELVariableName" 
      messageType="QName"? 
      type="QName"?
      element="QName"?&gt;+ 
      from-spec?
   &lt;/variable&gt;
&lt;/variables&gt;
