Subject: RE: [wsdm] FW: Request for Permanent URL
We're not trying to manage file locations. We're merely trying to make namespaces resolve to something meaningul. You can fetch the contents of the file at the end of the URL and use it appropriately to your tools (e.g. save it in a file with an .xsd extension). Following what you're saying it seems like you'd already have a problem with WS-Addressing, e.g. <xsd:import namespace="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/addressing" schemaLocation="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2003/03/addressing"/> On the other hand, (that is if we still want to keep namespaces resolve to meaningful documents), having something like <muws-xs:ResourceID xmlns:muws-xs="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsdm/2004/04/mows-0.5/mows.xsd">... seems quite strange compared to other XML specifications that I know about. -- Igor Sedukhin .. Our binding tool figures out what it is parsing based on the file extension. I don't know why the convention of including the end filename in a URL is being done away with. In your example below, we would slap a ".xsd" on the end to try to make it resolve to a file. But what if it was a ".wsdl"? The URL provides no information on this. Why force me to do some complicated dereference when you can make it clear up front? But I would *MUCH* prefer that the schema's & wsdl be named with that of which they are the schema or wsdl respectively, rather than just called schema (or wsdl). > > This is valuable for a number of reasons.
