Subject: RE: [wsdm] WDSM Jan F2F Logistics

I happen to live two blocks from the Bouldeado. Do stay there if you can.

Bus schedules are at http://rtd-denver.com/. The Boulder-Longomt "BOLT" route stops at IBM from Boulder in the early morning and to Boulder in the later afternoon.

Travel between DIA and Boulder is available on:
 http://rtd-denver.com/ - Route AB
 http://www.boulderexpress.com/

Enjoy,

Larry

Instructions for traveling from DIA to IBM Boulder
http://w3.boulder.ibm.com/boulderwebw3.nsf/lkpIBMpages/map.html

Here are the logistics for the WSDM F2F all day Jan 19 and 20th in Boulder CO at IBM.
Please try to arrange your flights to be there all day both days if at all possible.

Boulder Site Map

Meeting will be in Bldg 002. Visitor parking is very limited. Guests should park in lot D or B and walk to main entrance bldg 001 to enter... then walk (inside) to 002/B10-1
(first day Harry Lewis will escort if he's here or he will try and provide one if he's not).

1. Boulderado. Historic in nature and located 1 block off the "Pearl Street Mall" ... an outdoor "mall" (street with no cars)... a key Boulder city attraction with shops, restaurants etc. Sort of "old west" flare... some rooms with antique furniture... not necessarily the most luxurious rooms in all cases, however.

2. Marriott Boulder on Canyon Dr. Many people stay at Marriotts due to points etc. Located in an interesting plaza with a few restaurants, coffee shop and a famous Boulder hardware store that "has everything" (sounds boring but actually interesting to kill some time in).
I found this link http://www.boulder.co.usa.freehotelguide.com/Marriott-Boulder.html

3. Homewood Suites
You typical suites hotel. A bit removed from any action but the amenity of a suite.

People can, of course, find other hotels using their own search capabilities. For most wanting to experience Boulder (and not caring about points loyalty) I'd recommend Boulderado.

People can also search in the towns of Niwot and/or Longmont but they will be removed from Boulder proper which is usually considered the larger attraction.

There is actually a fairly new, cool little place called the Niwot Inn http://www.niwotinn.com/home_set.htm (Niwot named after Chief Niwot.. means "Left Hand"). Niwot is the closest town (5 min) to IBM. It is very quaint but has some of the best eateries (although limited in number) and a short block of antique shops.

People will need a car or taxi to get from any of these places to IBM. There is probably bus service from Boulder and Longmont... I can look into that if needed.
