Subject: pre/pseudo-normative text... re: WS-RMD

Neither my notes, my memory, nor the meeting minutes reflected whether the pre-normative text belonged in the primer or some version 1.1. specification (which I couldn't find).  So here's a general text snippet that can be merged appropriately.  It is currently built to fit in a second paragraph in the RMD section of the primer;  appropriate adjustments can be made for insertion into alternative documents.  If operating with in the primer, it is probably more appropriate to mung the text a bit and have the following as either an aside at the beginning of the section, or add a separate section at the end with this text (or something like it).  The latter allows it to be out of the way for the technical reader (and, appropriately titled, can be ignored) while present for the purists.

The current WSDM specification prescribes no normative schema reference for describing resource metadata.  However, it is recognized that without such a reference, utility and interoperability of the specification may be lacking.  That said, inventing our own specification is not an attractive options, since a submission is currently under consideration by the OASIS WS-Resource Framework (WSRF)  Technical Committee.

As the WSDM specification is currently based on WSRF, the reader can expect that this standard, once approved, will become a normative basis for the WSDM specification as well.  Thus, one can consider the use of WS-RMD to be  pre-normative or strongly recommended.  Developers must recognize that the that specification is likely to change through the approval and adoption process, but we feel that the providing of a general direction and current, albeit mutable, reference is appropriate and helpful.
