Subject: Use of Self in Participant attribute of Standalone Associations
To continue the discussion I started during the conference call on the occurrence of the Self element as a child element of the Participant property in a standalone association (an association class in UML), this is what the UML diagram would like if “Self” where an element in the Participant property of AssociationClass and the Participant property of AssociationClass pointed to itself.
As I said during the call, I highly doubt if that yields syntactically correct UML—i.e., the situation in which Self would appear in the Participant property in this case is not even modelable.
I have said what I need to, and I “accept” the “solution” as proposed. Kirk Wilson
