Subject: Proposed Text -- WSN5.4: Upgrade to WSDL20

Title: Message

Chapter 5 in the Issues document is essentially dedicated to common issues that are applicable to all the WSN specifications. I therefore thought it appropriate to add the following WSDL related issue there. Please review ...

Thanks,
Sanjay

WSN5.4: Upgrade to WSDL20

This issue may later expand into multiple issues, since there are many aspects of upgrade to WSDL20 (each aspect potentially affecting every WSN specification).

In addition to the syntactic changes for adopting WSDL20, etc, a potentially larger issue that has to be revisited as part of upgrade to WSDL20 is - Expression of notification producer using WSDL concepts and constructs., specifically the definition of notification message exchange pattern as a WSDL MEP.

Notes

This issue was first discussed during the biweekly conference call on Aug 30, 2004.

Since the notify and solicit-response operations from WSDL11 are prohibited by WS-I, and since WSDL20 provides a cleaner support for defining complex message exchange patterns,  the group decided to pursue WSDL20 exclusively.
