Minutes:

Minutes of WSRP TC Call 7 April 2005

Meeting started at 8:06AM PST

====================================================================
Quorum was reached (15 members in attendance)

1. Accept minutes?
Yes

2. SC reports/issues
 2.a Interoperability (Richard)
 2.b Conformance (Rich)
 2.c WSDL (Andre)
 2.d PFB (Richard)
 2.e Coordination (Rich)
 2.f Interfaces (Mike)
  - Recomendation to change handleEvent back into a bulk operation (see spec changes: http://www.oasis-open.org/apps/org/workgroup/wsrp/wsrp-coord/download.php/12163/handleEvents.doc)

Couple of things being worked on currently.

1) New CSS classes being proposed, Tab classes in particular would be usable
in their style. There are a variety of styles. Folks should test.

2) Can handleEvent become a bulk operation.

General feeling that this would be useful.

But what are the semantic issues for doing so?

There has been discussion over email threads.
The key question being discussed is - what are the overall guidelines
for the eventing model?

If we try and make the operation being bulk,
chunk added - consumer determines what is to be distributed.
Portlets should not require or assume particular event distribution - need to give
guidance for portlets.

This is really looking to cut down multiple invocations

Other changes on the type level such as for failures.

Handle as event? or distinct one?

Different aspects. Generate side for portlet. And what consumer
does to distribute the failure.

One proposal to have a separate type. Refer to the event failed via index.

Array in response back from portlet.

Andre commented on the possibility to use soap faults codes. And
have description and free content model.
Subbu agreed that this would be a good model.

So any objections to making bulk operation?
None, approved.

Onload event - this is starting a new use of the portlet on the Consumer.

Portlet cannot be built on the fact that it may not receive the onload event,
since consumer is not mandated to apply eventing.

Other issue discussed was if producer has general failure - then
producer should fault. Is the consumer going to pass those failures on?

Event failure processing different from normal event processing.

Any objections to merging into spec -
No objections.

 2.g Primer (Subbu)

Subbu started thinking about 2.0 format and content.

Any volunteers?
Additional topics?

Need to create rough outline for 2.0 primer.

Subbu to have tele conf next week.

Have one monolithic document? 60 pages is current doc.
Question is whether keep adding to same document.

Consensus to keep as separate document.

3. FAQ issues/discussion (Clinton)

No additions.

4. Errata items
 4.1 CR304a - "extra" schema file ... experience? comments?

Subbu noted that if we decide on mixed schema, we should continue to use
current schema.

Is there enough motivation to introduce new namespace.

Need to keep thinking on this.. nail down at F2F.

 4.2 CR310 - Add doctype field?

Subbu, could we use something like public params?

Need to have discussion.

Mike suggested that in the first phase, create a well defined extention type.

4.3 CR311 - Refer to "event driven Consumer applications"?
 4.4 CR312 - Clarify InvalidSession fault description
4.5 CR313 - Discourage use of InvalidCookie fault

5. V2 Specification

Next TC call to discuss planning for F2F.

- If possible hosts for a European F2F this fall could contact Rich, it would assist planning.
