I think the path we went down was:
1) identifier -> short, portlet-specific
id for the parameter (make it more reasonable to encode on a URL)
name -> QName for the
semantics of the parameter (relative to the Consumer sharing it)
2) Added: aliases -> other QNames
by which the parameter might be known
3) Consolidated name and aliases into
names.

Can someone remind why we used the fields "identifier"
and "names" in
ParameterDescription (Sec 5.1.15) instead of "name" and "aliases"?
