Subject: Re: [xacml-users] XACML 2.0 Policy/PolicySet version number
Hi Kamalendu. > What is the purpose of the Version number element in the Policy/PolicySet element? > Is this the policy object revision number in the policy repository, which is similar to file revision > number in a source code control repository? Yes, the Version attribute is the policy revision number. It can be any dotted value like "1", "1.2", "1.2.0.7" etc. It serves two purposes. First, it's there to help you manage your policies and keep track of them as they progress. As you note, many revision control systems or repositories have similar features. Second, the version number can be used when you reference a policy. A PolicyReference element may require a specific version, a range of versions, or a minimum/maximum version. seth
