Subject: [xacml] Minutes of TC Meeting 5 September 2002

Present: Piras (prospective), Daniel, Tim, Carlisle, Michiharu,
Simon, Anne, Polar. Not quorum.

Simon: requests adding discussion on multiple subjects to
agenda.

Tim: update on revision in progress. Editorial cleanup of Don
and Hal's sections. Operational considerations: has become a
normative description of functional requirements not discussed
under schema elements (requirements on PDP and on dealing with
hierarchies). Other consistency and completeness changes.
Future focus to be on technical changes. New revision format to
be Microsoft Word with change bars.

ACTION ITEMS REVIEW
===================
1. Post change requests to mailing list. DONE
2. Tim is working on a revision. SAML deleted. To come out
   soon.
3. Hal proposed rewording of charter with respect to SAML
   inputs and outputs. DONE.

APPROVED. Need to vote again with quorum.

4. Michiharu: To be finished by Friday night. Conformance Tests
cases refer to a schema location that does not currently
exist. Recommendation: use a local name: remove prefix, use
   "cs-xacml-schema-context-01.xsd"
5. Hal and Konstantin not on call.
6. Anne and Polar posted use cases for context minOccurs=1.
Recommend minOccurs=0 for Subject, Resource, and Action.

APPROVED. Need to vote again with quorum.

7. Anne posted proposed standards for rfc822 and x500 names.
Michiharu will post XPath function specifications by Monday.
He is exchanging mail with Polar.
8-10. No progress.
11. Tim: separate SAML doc. Lower priority. No progress.
12. XACML Primer: no progress.

CHANGE REQUESTS
===============
From list posted by Anne on 22 August 2002:

13. Semantics for multiple subjects and matching. Simon proposes
matching out of one <Subject> category in the <Target>:
i.e. all matches must be satisfied within one <Subject>.
Simon also proposes having a single <Subject> element per
category. Postpone support for distinguishing different
subjects within a single category to 2.0. Can also define a
new subject-category for different "types" of requesting
    user.

APPROVED. Need to vote again with quorum.

14. Change section title to "Security and Privacy Considerations"

APPROVED. Need to vote again with quorum.

SCHEDULE REVIEW
===============
- Don't let lack of quorum hold things up: make recommendation
and then do a block vote on recommendations next time we have
  quorum.
- Functions: need specifications.
For non-mandatory functions either remove, define, or find
spec. Anne: will do quick pass on XPATH 2.0 functions, pass to
  Michiharu and Polar.
- Monday call: go through more change requests. 10-12am Eastern
  time.
- Anne: cull out change requests from e-mail.
- Target: 26 Sept to vote to approve CS.
- Target: 1 Nov or 1 Dec for submission to OASIS

Tim: WS-Security meeting view is that OASIS will approve the
changes allowing submissions monthly and that approval process
will be 2 months rather than 5.
