Subject: Minutes of 31 August 2006 TC meeting
Minutes of the OASIS XACML Technical Committee Meeting 03 August 2006 Voting Member Attendees: Hal Lockhart (Chair) Michiharu Kudo Tony Nadalin Ron Williams Argyn Kuketayev Abbie Barbir Kamalendu Biswas Anne Anderson (Minutes) Seth Proctor David Staggs Member Attendee: Daniel Engovatov Observer: Greg Desmarais, Sigaba Regrets: Erik Rissanen Bill Parducci (Co-Chair) 1. Roll Call and Agenda Review Quorum was achieved 2. Approval of minutes from last two calls Minutes from 3 August 2006 TC Meeting http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200608/msg00003.html Minutes from 17 August 2006 TC Meeting http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200608/msg00004.html Minutes were approved unanimously. 3. Announcements a. New TC Process Changes - N.B. Errata Process There is now a streamlined process for getting approval of an errata document; can do this no more than twice a year. We currently have core spec errata, SAML spec and schemas errata, and the core and SAML schemas needing OASIS copyrights. Work needed is to compare the specs to create a list of changes (and a red-lined version). ACTION ITEM: Hal will work on the necessary diffs. b. Registration of XACML with ET.gov - status update Hal has sent the updated draft to the OASIS staff, but has not heard back. Issue is whether OASIS staff will do the registration or us. c. Status of XACML in ITU/T Abbie reported that XACML 2.0 was submitted in June. The review process should be done in 4-5 weeks. 4. New proposal - Pagination support for policy query and assertion (Issue#39) http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200608/msg00006.html Kamalindu Biswas submitted a proposal for dealing with too many policies to return in response to and XACMLPolicyQuery. The proposal adds two elements: PaginationRequest, and PaginationResponse. Hal suggested this is going beyond "retrieving policies to meet a situation", and it might be good to specify a "provisioning protocol" that supports queries for all policies, number of policies, updated policies, etc., possibly based on SPML, but with XACML-specific components. Seth mentioned issues of what happens if new policies are added or deleted in the range that was already sent, etc. Could be based on a "snapshot" model, but then must deal with timeout, etc. Status: take this to the list to get proposals and general direction. 5. Proposal for Attribute categories (Issue#3) http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/xacml/200608/msg00008.html Daniel Engovatov submitted draft schemas and other information as a specific proposal to deal with the decision to support extensible groupings of attributes. People are encouraged to review his proposal and send comments to the list. The meeting adjourned at 10:50am EDT. Note: Issues list is at http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xacml/IssuesList -- Anne H.
