That's a good point. Actually, as it turns out, the modeling of the JSON profile is such that it only supports XACML 3.0 though now that I think about it.

As a matter of fact, I don't see a benefit to retrofitting to XACML 2.0 request / response.

Do you think it's an important requirement?

I think it would be valuable to add something on the Request object that indicates the version of the XACML spec used. Compare this with the XML based format, where we can use the schema to identify whether we're dealing with XACML 2.0 or 3.0, for instance.

This functionality would help a PDP that supports multiple versions to return the correct Response, even in the absence of an Accept header.
