Subject: Re: [xdi] Groups - Weekly Unofficial Telecon added

Dear All,

Sorry for this period of silence, I've been very busy with a new
project proposal preparation. I think this could be of interest for
XDI people, so I'm taking the freedom to inform you that we're
developing a research project proposal in the context of the 7th IST
framework http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/home_en.html.

Here is some sentences taken from the project proposal describing
what we're going to do:

"
Nowadays, people produce and use a growing variety and amount of
digital items by using a growing variety and number of devices.
Digital items include all kinds of multimedia files, documents,
software, digitalized representation of physical items (places,
objects, persons - "digital subjects") and so on."
To efficiently handle all these contents, it is useful to define a
common format and a related framework for storing, transferring and managing.
"

"
The project will define and implement a set of scenarios, including:
- coming home and collecting all the Extended Digital Items
produced during the day by all our devices, cataloguing,
synchronizing and backupping them all
- produce a digital representation of a physical object (i.e.,
a book, a pc, etc.) to use in eTrade and auctions like e-bay.
- handling of Public administration files (and private as well)
- synchronization and updating of stored files (with external sources)
- production and publishing of a digital CV, including link to
physical places, employer, published works, which could be
automatically interpreted by an agent to find the best job.
- interoperability of different web 2.0 applications (youtube,
flicker, ebay, etc)
- P2P search and sharing of digital items
- ....
"

As you can see, it is strongly based on the dataweb paradigm and
technology like XDI will play a primary role.
We're currently 7 partners including academia, corporates, operators
and SMEs across Europe. We're currently looking for more partners.
Should someone of you from US be interested in taking part at it,
please let us know, so that we'll provide further details.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Giovanni
