Subject: Minutes: XDI TC Telecon Thursday 8-9AM PT 2008-02-28
Following are the minutes of the unofficial telecon of the XDI TC at: Date: Thursday, 28 Febrary 2008 USA Time: 8:00AM - 9:00PM Pacific Time Event Description: Weekly unofficial call of the XDI Technical Committee. ATTENDING John Bradley Bill Barnhill Markus Sabadello Giovanni Bartolomeo Drummond Reed 1) TELECON TIMING Giovanni agreed that he can join the telecon if we move it to 9PM GMT (1PM PT) on Thursdays. So we will switch to that schedule starting next week. # DRUMMOND to send a reminder to the TC list. 2) WORKGROUPS There was a long discussion about the list of potential XDI 1.0 specifications as listed on the WorkGroup page: http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xdi/WorkGroups * Bill provided an explanation of why to have separate specs for the REST and async APIs: we should define a strong abstract API (in the RDF Graph Model spec) and then have specs for individual bindings. Bill would eventually like to see bindings for XMPP, JMS, and SIP. * Giovanni strongly agreed with having a strong abstract API - that is what unifies all the bindings. The abstract API should not be driven or influenced by any particular binding. * A Higgins IdAS binding was also mentioned. * The link contract specification will need to cover a number of key topics, including synchronization and contract negotiation. * Bill suggested that serialization be split out into a separate spec, and that it cover all popular forms of serialization including X3, RelaxNG, XSD, and potentiall others. He is going to propose an ASN.1 serialization. * Drummond said that XDI Context Discovery should be split out into a separate spec since it needs to map XRI resolution and XRDS documents to XDI. * Two other potential additional specs were suggested: - XDI Signatures - XDI Query * Bill suggested that the TC look at WS-Discovery and its Compact Signatures section. * Drummond explained that XBNF is planned to be an XRI TC specification. There was strong interest in this topic, and Drummond will contact Marty about putting together a folder with links to the materials developed on it. 3) ATI MODEL UPDATE John said he had been discussing the topic with interested TC members and would report back the next week. 4) RDF MODEL UPDATE Drummond and Markus posted an small update to the XDI RDF Model document: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/27322/xdi-rdf-model-v9.pdf The appendix has a change log. The key changes were: * Dropped the n-segment addressing proposal. * Simplified two of the atomic relations. * Renamed X3 Display to X3 Simple.
