Subject: Minutes: XDI TC Telecon Thursday 1-2PM PT 2009-03-12
Following are the minutes of for the unofficial telecon of the XDI TC at: Date: Thursday, 12 March 2009 USA Time: 1:00PM - 2:00PM Pacific Time (21:00-22:00 UTC) ATTENDING John Bradley Drummond Reed REGRETS Nick Nicholas Markus Sabadello (Several attendees missed this meeting due the time change in the U.S.) 1) DICTIONARIES, CLASSES, AND SCHEMAS Given the light attendance, John wanted to explore classes, individuals, and their relationships. Key points Drummond and John discussed: * In the context of an XDI statement, all XRIs that include even a single qualified XRI subsegment (a subsegment that includes a delimiter) inherently infer XDI metagraph statements because of the inferred $has statement. This was a surprising realization. * A class definition may exist in any context, and it does not require that any individuals exist, nor does it require that if an individual of this class exists, that all the predicates of this individual exist. * Access to specific predicates and objects of a subject is not granted automatically on the basis of them existing for that subject, but can be controlled via a link contract. * Such predicate/object nodes do not necessarily exist in the actual graph until they are populated, however they may exist from a semantic reasoning standpoint. * XDI dictionaries are themselves XDI RDF graphs. 2) NEXT CALL Regular time next Thusday 3/19. NOTE THAT THE US HAS SHIFTED TO DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.
