Subject: FW: [egov-sc] Your Webinar Invitation: Join us for "The Use ofFree, Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) by Governments"

I know many of the members of this TC have a wide social network outside of OASIS that includes folks working Open Government. Please look at the invitation below to see if you might be interested in the Dec 3 webinar on Open Source usage by governments. Please also pass it on to anyone you know who might be interested.

Thanks,
-Bill

The webinar is hosted by the eGov Member Section and will be presented by two members of their Steering Committee, Charles Schulz and John Borras. This is one in a series of outputs that the Member Section is producing as part of its remit to promote the adoption and implementation of open standards that facilitate interoperability within and between government agencies and all of their stakeholders, and to stimulate the sharing of best practices and examination of use cases concerning the delivery of eGovernment services.

The webinar will provide:
• an explanation of exactly what FLOSS is,
• a review of its rise in prominence over the last few years,
• a look at its current progress and future development,
• a detailed look at how it can be used by Governments,
• examples of current implementations,
• advice on getting started for those who haven’t already embraced it.

Who should attend:
• Government and other public sector officials responsible for ICT policy, procurement, and implementation.
• Providers of software and services to Governments.
• SDO and open source developers creating application used by the public sector
