Subject: Minutes: XDI TC Telecon Friday 2014-05-02
Following are the minutes of the unofficial telecon of the XDI TC at:
Date: Friday, 2 May 2014 USA
Time: 09:00AM - 10:30AM Pacific Time (16:00-17:30 UTC)
Markus Sabadello
Drummond Reed
Hubert Le Van Gong
Peter Davis
Andy Dale
Les Chasen
Dan Blum
Joseph Boyle
Will Martin
Phil Windley
None scheduled.
Hubert has been working on a visual tool for displaying and editing XDI graphs. In a demo he showed how one can manually add nodes and arcs to a graph, and how to import and export entire statements. The TC congratulated Hubert on his work and expressed its excitement about having such a tool, which can make XDI much more visible and accessible to various audiences. Hubert said he and Les were currently considering what would be the appropriate home for this tool.
Discuss potential sessions. Suggestions:
Understanding XDI Graphs
Show graph notation format
Illustrate with Hubert’s graphical editor
How Respect Network Is Using XDI
Registering a cloud name and number
How a cloud is provisioned
Link contracts
XDI Signatures and Encryption
Storing signatures in a graph
Different graph representations
This summer, XDI will be exposed to a large audience, therefore we want to be as ready as possible to present it as a mature technology. Let’s come up with a concrete plan of how far we can progress with XDI specs within the next 7 weeks.
We discussed what was the minimum criteria. The proposal was that a spec has to be far enough to be implemented.
Proposed spec status by June 23:
XDI Core Working Draft 03 - complete and stable
XDI Messaging Working Draft 02
XDI Discovery Working Draft 01
Dan pointed out these others that are also in the process of being or have been implemented to some degree:
XDI Policy
XDI Cryptography (or XDI Signing and Encryption)
https://wiki.oasis-open.org/xdi/XdiOneSpecs
https://github.com/OASIS-XDI-Technical-Committee/xdi-spec-docbook
Status previously:
Markus: Will practice the Jira processes we discussed
Joseph: Still working on messaging..
Will: Generating docbook outline from wiki pages, will flesh out and make more specific
Dan: Worked on XDI Policy draft (Google Doc), will work on XDI Privacy Mechanisms
Hubert: Started XDI Bindings docbook file, will look at Joseph’s work on messaging and coordinate with him
Peter: Worked on Jira setup, some progress with XDI Security Mechanisms; talked to Dan about tension between running code and spec requirements
Les: Dependency on Drummond’s work
Drummond: Working PPT and PDF of graph annotation format to get to Joseph; help Joseph add the following XDI Core 1.0 issues to Jira:
Status this week (to be filled out during the call):
Markus: No progress
Joseph: Drafted http://xdi.org/xdi-spec-docbook/xdi/xdi-messaging-1.0/xdi-messaging-1.0-wd02.xml based on https://wiki.oasis-open.org/xdi/XdiMessagePatterns and http://tutorial.xdi.org/tutorial.html?4|15 Question: Should messaging spec include content from https://wiki.oasis-open.org/xdi/EquivalenceRelations or other pages? Drummond: should go in Core. Markus thinks the syntax and semantics of equivalence relations should go into Core, while Messaging should explain how an XDI server processes these relations.
Will: (not in attendance today)
Dan: needs feedback on the Policy draft. Also made headway on XDI Privacy Mechanisms. Thinking about the best way to express privacy obligations in link contract vocabulary.
Hubert: mostly worked on the graph editor. Will review messaging spec.
Peter: SecMech is moving along; no progress on Signatures this week. Plans to publish a wiki page to propose the JOSE model more concretely.
Les:
Drummond: did not get graph notation format to Joseph; will do this weekend
The next call is on Friday, 16 May 2014 at the regular time.
