Subject: V4 of Requirements & Glossary doc
I just uploaded the latest revision of the XRI Requirements and Glossary document. I apologize for not having it further in advance of the call but it involved more discussions and revisions than I expected. A few notes about this draft: 1) The most significant changes were to the first half of the Motivations section (so significant that revision tracking was making it unreadable, so I turned off revision tracking for the whole Motivations section - the first half is all new, so read it all). In particular the layer diagrams were extensively revised. Much credit here goes to Nat Sakimura for flagging the issues and Dave Wentker for proposing the new approach used in this draft. Neither of them have had a chance to review this new draft yet so they may have more feedback still. 2) Most importantly, these new diagrams introduce the terms "XRI name" and "XRI address". The context will be clear when you read it, but I'm tasking Dave Wentker to explain the rationale for this on tomorrow's call. 3) I turned on revision tracking for the rest of the document, where the revisions are much more minor, so they are easy to spot. I incorporated all feedback received on the list (those who made suggestions, please review the relevant changes). One requirement (Anonymity, Pseudonymity, Veronymity) was dropped (out of scope), one was added (Proxy Resolution), and two were renamed ("Profile" to "Specialization"). 4) The references were completed and remaining to-dos are minor (some examples still need to be added in the Glossary section). We'll discuss it briefly on tomorrow's call but due to the extent of the revisions, I propose we allow ourselves one more call cycle (10 days) for final comments to be posted to the list before we call this doc "done for now". =Drummond
