Subject: XRIs in directories
After a break in action on the XRI list, here's the first of
several technical issues that need to be addressed as we work through the next
(hopefully final) committee draft scheduled to be completed in October. The TC has received a request to define how XRIs are to be
used as attributes in directory systems. As I understand it, this means that
we'd need to define two attributes, one for a single value XRI and one for a
multi-value list of XRIs. We'd then need to register the attributes, acquire
and assign OIDs and define an objectClass for each. I'll put together a proposal next week for attribute names
and objectClasses, but for now I just want to give a heads up about this
activity and ask if anyone on the list feels strongly one way or the other
about taking on this work. Also, does anyone have experience on the
registration process for new directory attributes? Dave |
