Subject: RE: [xri] PLEASE REVIEW: WD11 Section 8 (Yadis) proposed text
Steve, Good question. My answer: XRI resolvers *never* perform “Yadis”
discovery (I’m trying not to use that term because it’s largely
been deprecated even within the OpenID community) because such discovery is
based on HTTP(S) URIs, not XRIs. However we still have it in the spec
because: a) It’s very relevant to gaining
utility from XRDS documents describing resources that have HTTP(S) URI
identifiers. b) In XRI Resolution 3.0, when we define resolution
of $(url) community root identifiers, I believe we should just cite that it
uses section 8.2 to resolve the starting XRDS. Very clean. =Drummond From: Steven Churchill

Yadis discovery? ~ Steve From: Drummond Reed
[mailto:drummond.reed@cordance.net] XRI TC Members and Observers: In keeping with the consensus from last week to make our
highest priority the completion of the XRI Resolution 2.0 spec, we are plunging
into review of Working Draft 11 this week. The ball for posting the first
editor’s draft is in my court, and I have reserved all day Tuesday for
completing it so review can begin Wednesday before our standard TC telecon this
coming Thursday. However one section is ready for review immediately –
the new section 8, which is where we are incorporating the Yadis specification
for discovery of XRDS document from an HTTP URI. Since we need the Yadis and
OpenID communities to review this carefully, I have posted the proposed text of
this section as a new XRI TC wiki page at:
http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xri/XriCd02/XrdsDiscoveryFromHttpUris I would like to post a request for review to the OpenID
Specification mailing list tomorrow (Monday) night after the XRI Resolution
editors and other TC members have had a chance to review it. So please do look
this over tomorrow if you can – it’s only about 1 page of text
– and post any and all feedback to the list (even if it’s just to
say +1). Thanks, =Drummond |
