Subject: Minutes: XRI TC Telecon 10-11AM PT Thursday 2008-02-28
Following are the minutes of the unofficial telecon of the XRI TC at: Date: Thursday, 28 February 2008 USA Time: 10:00AM - 11:00PM Pacific Time ATTENDING Fen LaBalme Wil Tan Markus Sabadello Gabe Wachob John Bradley Marty Schleiff Drummond Reed Nika Jones 1) OPENID URL COMPATABILITY Fen asked a question about compatability of XRIs with OpenID infrastructure, and in particular if there was a good way to use HXRI URLs with OpenID relying parties who don't yet support XRI. Drummond, Markus, and John explained the three options that have been developed: a) Examining User-Agent Headers and returning X-XRDS-Location headers (Markus explained this was not consistent enough to be useful). b) Redirecting to an HTML page with X-XRDS-Location headers (works but not uniformly implemented) c) Using a special proxy resolver (works but requires too much user education). See writeup at: http://dev.inames.net/wiki/OpenID_Discovery_Proxy_Service We discussed the solution of trying to have a regular proxy resolver solve the problem by always producing an X-XRDS-Location header, but that won't work because the proxy produces a redirect and the OpenID spec makes that the new identifier. John suggested that i-broker communities like XDI.org require i-brokers to put the X-XRDS-Location header in the default SEP (such as a contact page). 2) REVIEW OF XRI RESOLUTION 2.0 COMMITTEE DRAFT 02 REVISION 03 This "release candidate" was posted in PDF format at: http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/27394/xri-resolution-V2.0- cd-02-rv-03.pdf We reviewed all the new changes. The only feedback was the following set of action items: # DRUMMOND to add definition of "Record" below Figure 6. # JOHN and WIL to take a final proofing pass on Fig. 6. # GABE to upload revised RNC. # DRUMMOND to add note to xrd.xsd RE Type element. 3) UPDATED SCHEDULE Following is our updated schedule: Feb 29: Vote on CD03 begins Mar 7: Vote on CD03 ends; submit for Public Review Mar 12: Begin second public review (15 days) Mar 27: End second public review Apr 3: End seven day waiting period Apr 4: Begin Committee Specification vote Apr 11: End Committee Specification vote Apr 14: Submit for OASIS Standard vote May 1: Begin OASIS Standard vote May 31: End OASIS Standard vote We have already used up all the schedule slack, so we need to stay on tightly track for each subsequent step. The vote on promoting CD02 RV 04 to CD03 will begin tonight as soon as Gabe and Drummond finish uploading all the updates. 4) STATEMENTS OF USE Drummond and Gabe reminded everyone that to prepare for the OASIS Standard vote, we need TC members need to submit prepare Statements of Use. Per the OASIS TC Process document: "Statement of Use", with respect to a specification, is a written statement by an OASIS Organizational Member stating that it is successfully using or implementing that specification in accordance with the conformance clauses specified in Section 2.18*, and stating whether its use included the interoperation of multiple independent implementations. Again, due to our tight schedule, we need to have these prepared and submitted by the time we hold our Committee Specification vote. Please start prepping now. 5) W3C COMMENT RESPONSE UPDATE Gabe promised to send the response no later than tomorrow.
