Subject: Super Simple SEP Selection proposal
Although I wasn't able to write it up in time for the XRI TC telecon this morning, I finished and posted the XRI 3.0 "Super Simple SEP Selection" (SSSS) proposal before the XDI TC telecon this afternoon: http://wiki.oasis-open.org/xri/XriThree/SuperSimpleSepSelection I first sent the link to the XDI TC list to get their feedback on the XDI TC call (since most are also XRI TC members). Gabe wasn't on the call but he happened to spot the link and his feedback is below. Indeed, I recall that he was the original advocate for this dramatically simpler approach -- WHY DIDN'T WE LISTEN TO HIM??!! Given the hundreds of hours that have gone into specifying, implementing, testing (and explaining ;-) XRI 2.0 SEP selection, this proposal seems almost ludicrously simple. But, as my old English teacher used to say, "Murder your darlings". I'm cc'ing Eugene Kim, who inspired this radical rethink, to get his take, as well as Victor Grey (who is still an XRI TC member) and Kermit Snelson, as they spent many hours implementing/testing XRI 2.0 SEP selection in Barx. Please do send in any feedback (for non-OASIS members, just send me email and I'll forward to the list). =Drummond > -----Original Message----- > From: Gabe Wachob [mailto:gwachob@gmail.com] On Behalf Of Gabe Wachob > Sent: Thursday, November 06, 2008 1:20 PM > To: Drummond Reed > Cc: xdi@lists.oasis-open.org; Eugene Eric Kim > Subject: Re: [xdi] Substitute adenda item - XRI Resolution proposal > > I'd point out that this is the sort of proposal I made years ago when > we initially started adding these selection features to the XRD > document type. > > Glad to see things move in this direction. > > -Gabe > > On Nov 6, 2008, at 1:06 PM, Drummond Reed wrote: > > > Replacement for agenda item #1.
