Subject: Doodle poll on Monday XRI TC telecon times

Since several TC members have indicated that a second weekly telecon on Mondays optimized for EU members would work well for them, I have started a Doodle poll to determine the best time slots:

            http://doodle.com/qfihv7digskebdfh

All US/EU TC members please take 30 seconds to visit this Doodle page and indicate your preferences (red = hard conflict, yellow = could live with, green = prefer). I gave five one-hour slots in the window that is morning US/afternoon EU.

Note that we will still be continuing our Thursday calls from 2-3PM ET, a time slot that works better for Asia/US. Those of us who can attend both calls will maintain continuity of the active threads.

Thanks,

=Drummond

This works better for me.

Thanks,

John’s right, we have the classic global standards challenge that we’ve got TC members from Australia, Japan, US, and EU.

Here’s another option: do two staggered calls per week during our core spec cycle (next 60-90 days). For example, one call could be Monday mornings US time (i.e., optimized for EU) and the other could stay at its current time at 2-3PM Pacific on Thursdays (optimized for Australia/Japan).

Rather than dedicate them exclusively to XRD or XRI, half of each call would be devoted to each, so folks interested in just one of those two specs would only need 30 mins. Some folks would generally be able to make both calls, so they would maintain continuity for those who could just make one or the other.

This would up our “duty cycle” to twice a week, which is helpful during a spec cycle.

Also, because these are all unofficial meetings, none of these calls counts towards TC voting membership (you just have to vote on 2-out-of-3 online ballots).

Thoughts?

How early do you need it to be?   We are trying to avoid a 3am call time for the Australians they are +11h from you, so that makes it 9-10AM for them.

I suspect that one or two hours earlier may be OK for them.

Would an hour earlier help?  It may be possible to switch the order of the XRI and XRD calls.

For a one-off, maybe. For a weekly meeting, not really.

I would personally be OK with earlier.    We are also trying to accommodate people in Japan and Australia.

Personally I am in Santiago for the next while so the call is at 7pm for me.

Per discussion on the last XRI TC telecon, the XRI TC plans to begin holding
TWO one-hour weekly telecons - one on XRI 3.0 and one on XRD 1.0. To make it
most convenient for participants in both the XRI and XDI TCs, John Bradley
suggested the following schedule on THURSDAYS:

Noon-1PM Pacific Time (20:00-21:00 UTC) - XDI TC telecon
1PM-2PM Pacific Time (21:00-22:00 UTC) - XRI TC telecon on XRI 3.0
2PM-3PM Pacific Time (22:00-23:00 UTC) - XRI TC telecon on XRD 1.0

Note that this means the current XDI telecon moves one hour back, and the
first XRI TC telecon moves into that slot.

To make it even easier for participants in multiple calls, I will work with
Les Chasen at NeuStar to see if we can't arrange one bridge for all three
calls.

Will any XRI or XDI TC member for whom this call schedule WILL NOT work
please reply back to the list? Otherwise we will adopt this schedule
starting this week (Dec. 4).

10-11pm for XRD does not work very well for me!
