1) XRD 1.0 WD08 COMMITTEE DRAFT VOTE

Will and Eran pushed out WD08 last night incorporating the final feedback of TC members.

http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/34697/xrd-1.0-wd08.html

They summarized the changes listed in the revision list at the end.

-- The removal of the URI template language is so that this can be done in another spec and made compatible with the spec Roy Fielding is creating (which the previous text was not compatible with).

-- The Rel definition was clarified to eliminate using a space-delimited list.

-- The ds:KeyInfo element was dropped from the schema not just because it was an extension anyway (and thus was not needed), but because it was primarily present for use with linked XRDs, and we dropped that section. The usage for publishing keys/certs to use to verify signatures on XRDs of link targets is still an obvious usage -- one that XRI Resolution 3.0 plans to use -- but does not need to be called out in this spec.

-- Link/Subject element was dropped because it was only used in linked XRDs and even XRI Resolution 3.0 probably will not need it (the reason is that in XRD 1.0, the Link/URI element is used to identify the target resource and NOT the location of the XRD describing the target resource, so in XRI Resolution 3.0 the Link/URI element of the next XRI resolution authority can simply contain a bound XRI identifying that authority.)

After discussion of these items, there was consensus to open a Committee Draft ballot on WD09 that will incorporate just two editorial changes: 1) removing some unnecessary references (and moving a few from normative to informative), and 2) updating Appendix A (Acknowledgements ) per the emails on the list today.

# DRUMMOND AND PETER to start Committee Draft 01 vote tonight or tomorrow. This timing is necessary in order for a public review to start in time for Internet Identity Workshop (Nov 3-5 in Mountain View CA).

2) STATUS OF RELATED SPECS

       http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-nottingham-http-link-header (Web Linking)
       http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-nottingham-site-meta (Host-Meta)
       http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-hammer-discovery (LRDD)

Eran explained that LRDD is going to be an informational RFC and serve as a "cookbook" for different discovery options rather than prescribe a particular process. Drummond said XRI Resolution 3.0 will defiinitely need reference this cookbook, so the sooner the better. Eran hopes to have the next draft in two weeks.

Eran also said that site-meta is relatively short and should be ready soon after we finish the CD vote, Lastly, he said that web-linking (which handles both the rel registry and the link header mechanism in one spec) is in Last Call and should be done shortly - there is just one interesting issue being raised by the HTML 5 WG about the rel registry.

3) XRI SYNTAX 3.0 WORKING DRAFT 03 STATUS/ISSUES

Drummond said his goal is to have this ready, with all content, by IIW.

4) BEGINNING WORK ON XRI RESOLUTION 3.0

With XRD 1.0 in CD, now it's time to get this drafted, ideally in time for discussion at IIW. Drummond will talk to Peter, John, and others who want to contribute.

5) PLANNING FOR INTERNET IDENTITY WORKSHOP

Drummond suggested that the TC figure out which sessions it would like to facilitate on XRD 1.0 at IIW in order to take advantage of the public review period. Also on XRI Syntax 3.0 and XRI Resolution 3.0.

# DRUMMOND will contact Kaliya to recommend that Eran do an intro talk on XRD 1.0 on Tuesday morning.

6) WIKIPEDIA PAGE

Drummond pointed out that we need a Wikipedia page on XRD and to update the page on XRDS. Eran volunteered to help.

# ERAN AND DRUMMOND to draft/update these pages.

7) NEXT CALL

We'll hold the regular call next week but it may deal primarily with CD01 publishing/public review logistics.
