Subject: Minutes: XRI TC Telecon 2-3PM PT Thursday 2010-02-18
Following are the minutes of the unofficial telecon of the XRI TC at:
Date: Thursday, 18 February 2010 USA
Time: 2:00PM - 3:00PM Pacific Time (21:00-22:00 UTC)
ATTENDING
Will Norris
Scott Cantor
John Bradley
Breno de Medeiros
Drummond Reed
Eran Hammer-Lahav
AGENDA
1) XRD 1.0 WD 14 PROGRESS
Will reported that the only outstanding question is what spec we reference for comparison rules for media types.
Option 1: Section 3.7 of RFC 2616
Option 2: Section 4.2 of RFC 4288 (Media Type Specification and Registration Procedures). This is what ATOM and the HTTP Link Header specs reference. We can reference this for both syntax and comparison rules. This is also the most restrictive. The one issue is that the ABNF here is not clear in its support for parameters.
Option 3: RFC 2045 (MIME)
# DECISION: We will reference RFC 4288.
# ACTION: Will and Eran will update this, then push WD 14 and we will once again do a “last call” before starting the CD 02 vote.
2) XRD 1.0 WD 13 SIGNATURE ISSUE
Breno confirmed that this issue is closed for this version of XRD.
3) PROPOSAL FOR AN X.509-BASED XRD TRUST PROFILE
http://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/xri/201001/msg00083.html
Breno walked us through his latest thinking about trust profiles and resource identification. This is to determine how an XRD is matched with a resource and a certificate.
Scott shared the view that the more explicit the instructions in a trust profile are, the better it will support interoperability.
Another question is the degree to which the requirements around the certificates that are inputs to the trust decision are specified. John suggested that the cleanest way would be to just specify the required public key.
Breno pointed out that in the trust profile, you need to be able to specify the use of more than one certificate, to allow for certificates to change, and for different types of certificates.
# ACTION: Breno to post his proposed spec text when he is ready.
4) XRI 3.0 SYNTAX AND RESOLUTION
http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/35972/xri-syntax-3.0-wd03.pdf
Drummond explained that he doesn’t
expect further input/revisions until after the RSA Conference.
5) NEXT CALL
The next call is next week at the
regular time.
