Subject: Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) WebSocket Binding (WSB) V1.0 published by AMQP-BINDMAP TC

OASIS Members and other interested parties,

OASIS is pleased to announce the approval and publication of a new Committee Specification by the members of the OASIS Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) Bindings and Mappings (AMQP-BINDMAP) TC:

Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) WebSocket Binding (WSB) Version 1.0
Committee Specification 01
16 August 2016

What is AMQP WebSocket Binding and why is it important?

AMQP (Advanced Message Queuing Protocol) is an open internet protocol for business messaging, defining a binary wire-level protocol that allows for the reliable exchange of business messages between two parties.

Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) WebSocket Binding (WSB) Version 1.0 describes how the WebSocket protocol can be used as a transport for AMQP 1.0 protocol traffic. It is applicable for two main scenarios:general firewall tunneling and for Web browser messaging scenarios.

This is a final deliverable. Completed and approved by the TC, this OASIS Committee Specification is fully ready for implementation. If submitted for further ratification as an OASIS Standard, its content will not change.

About the TC:

The purpose of the AMQP Bindings and Mappings (AMQP-BINDMAP) TC is to define bindings of AMQP 1.0 core protocol to underlying transports other than TCP, to define mappings of the AMQP 1.0 core protocol to existing well-known programming APIs, and to define representations of the AMQP 1.0 message format in existing well-known languages.

For more information, see the TC Charter and FAQ.

Members of the AMQP-BINDMAP TC [1] approved this specification by Special Majority Vote. The specification had been released for public review as required by the TC Process [2]. The vote to approve as a Committee Specification passed [3], and the document is now available online in the OASIS Library as referenced above.

Our congratulations to the TC on achieving this milestone and our thanks to the reviewers who provided feedback on the specification drafts to help improve the quality of the work.
