Notes:

  • Product Directory:  There is a desire to raise the visibility of AMQP compliant products.  This effort and initiative will assist with raising awareness and adoption of AMQP.  We have an existing page on our AMQP website.  We would like to build this portfolio and informational repository out a little more.

Carol Geyer from OASIS will assist the group with shaping a new offering.  We need to find a couple of volunteers to drive this forward on behalf of the AMQP group.

Rob Dolin (Microsoft) volunteered and Kim Palko (Redhat) volunteered.  It was also recognised that Rob and Kim would enlist the assistance of some of the markets folks of their respective companies.

Action: Rob and Kim to discuss with Carol a convenient time for a meeting on this.

 

  • Product Announcements/Latest news: This is a feature on the front page of our AMQP website which allows the publishing of “latest news” whatever the definition of “latest news” actually aligns to.  It was determined that we have no defined process for publishing stories.   We require a volunteer to pull together a template which the announcements should conform to and a short process for submission and publishing.   Laurie Bryson and Rob Dolin volunteered to work on this item.

As we have no documented process for publishing an announcement in the interim it was agreed that we should run any announcement past John and Matt as co-chairs of the member section steering committee.

Action: Laurie and Rob to create a template and shape process.

 

  • Collation of marketing material: At the last marketing meeting it was agreed that a good initial step we should pull together a list of all the forums, collateral and platforms.  We would then review the material.    Laurie has taken a first cut at that information however currently it is held in email format.   We discussed whether there were any platforms or tools in OASIS where we could collaborate to update the list.  As this would be work in progress it would be good to work on this privately before making available in a public way.

Jane from OASIS who was on the call was going to revert to others at OASIS and confirm whether there was anything which would meet our need.

Action: Jane to check with OASIS on what tools /platforms we could use which would allow us to collaborate prior to making any material public.

 

As part of this agenda item we discussed resourcing for this piece and the wider marketing effort.    A couple of people from vendor organisation suggested that they would/may be able to get additional resources but in order to gain the greatest value and benefit shaping the “ask” would assist in obtaining the resource and making the best use.

It was therefore agreed we should shape a little better what we the goals and objectives of this initiative are and scoping it a little tighter.

We would again be looking at our vendor community to help shape the scope a little.  It was suggested that Kim, Rob, Matt and Laurie shape the scope a little.

Action: Rob, Kim, Matt and Laurie to start shaping the marketing scope.

 

  • 2013/2014 Conferences

Jane ran through the email of conferences which she sent through.   As we were running out of time it was agreed that we should all review the list of conferences and respond indicating what people viewed as events or conferences which we should have a presence at.

We should also think about whether we should organise an AMQP (internal & external) conference in 2013.

Action: All to respond with views on events and conferences.
