Subject: Re: [amqp-bindmap] RE: AMQP / AMQP-BINDMAP TC F2F Meeting - Redmond, WA - Feb 18-22

Airport : SEA  aka SeaTac or Seattle Tacoma

MSFT is between Bellview and Redmond.  Bellview has more hotels. Not sure if there is a MSFT rate at any.

MSFT has multiple buildings. Not sure which one but most are clustered in same area as mentioned above.

What airport is recommended? Any hotel recommendations? What’s the address for Microsoft (so we can look for hotels close)?

For the schedule, those days work for me. Other items on my schedule are also converging on that week – I’ll let you know by end of Friday if I can come out for the event.

Thanks,

-Steve

Subject: AMQP / AMQP-BINDMAP TC F2F Meeting - Redmond, WA - Feb 18-22

Hi all,

I just want to confirm to everyone that the face-to-face meeting of the AMQP and AMQP-BINDMAP technical committees will take place as planned during the week commencing February 18th. The meeting is being hosted by Microsoft in Redmond, WA, USA. I will provide more detailed logistics information early next week. Rob and I will also prepare a strawman agenda to include the topics listed in Rob’s original message (included below).

Please let me know if you will attend.

Thanks and best regards,

Dave.

So, the results of the poll are in... thanks for all that participated

Week  | Y/M/N

=======+======

Feb  4 | 9 1 5

Feb 11 | 9 1 5

Feb 18 |10 1 4

Mar 11 | 9 2 4

Mar 18 | 7 5 3

Mar 25 |10 2 3

My personal preference is to have any F2F earlier than later, which would suggest week beginning Feb 18th as the most popular date. Does anyone want to volunteer to host the event on this week (or one of the alternate weeks)?

Thanks,

Rob

I'd like to close this vote shortly so we can narrow down the date/location by the end of the week.

Can anyone who has not responded yet and is interested in attending a potential AMQP technical face-to-face meeting please respond by close of business Wednesday December 12th.

Thanks,

Rob

Subject: Potential 2013 Q1 AMQP / AMQP-BINDMAP TC F2F Meeting

All,

In the AMQP Member Section we have been discussing the potential to hold a face-to-face meeting to make progress on our technical deliverables in both the AMQP and AMQP-BINDMAP TCs, given the large overlap between the two technical Committees it would seem to make sense to hold any such face to face jointly (though be aware that to make technical contributions one *MUST* be a member of the appropriate TC).

Scope:

In terms of potential topics I can see the following (though others should feel free to add)

AMQP-BINDMAP:

* JMS Mapping

* SOAP Mapping

* WebSockets Binding

* SCTP Binding

* Potential ways forward for mappings to languages where there is no established APIs

AMQP (core):

* Addressing

* Alternative authentication / authorization mechanisms (e.g. OAUTH)

* Monitoring and Management / Node types

* Distributed Transactions

* Conformance testing approaches

* Interop / connect-a-thon testing

Out of scope would be member section issues such as community engagement, marketing, etc.  It is planned to hold a separate Member Section face to face.

Location:

The last technical workshop (in May of this year) was held in the UK, and prior to our joining OASIS, the previous two technical F2Fs were also held in Europe.  As such it is probably appropriate that we look to hold the next meeting in North America to allow those who could not make it over to the last gatherings to attend this time. (Strictly speaking it is probably the turn of the West Coast to host).

Date:

I have created a doodle poll so that interested parties can indicate which dates they might be able to attend such an event, covering all the weeks in February/March except w/b 25 February (when ApacheCon US is being held) and w/b Mar 4th (when QCon London is being held) since I believe a number of key TC members are looking to attend one or both of these conferences. Please let me know if there are any other clashing events that we should be aware of.

Please add comments to the poll if your attendance would be conditional on a particular location.

Thanks,

Rob
