Subject: OASIS ALERT: XML Cover Pages Offers New Sponsorship Opportunities

XML Cover Pages Offers New Sponsorship Opportunities
Robin Cover’s Web Page Provides Clearinghouse for Everything XML

Boston, MA; March 6, 2000—-The XML Cover Pages, hosted by OASIS, offer new
sponsorship opportunities for what is widely regarded as the most
comprehensive online reference work for XML and its parent, SGML. Formerly
known as the SGML/XML Web Page, the XML Cover Pages feature an extensive
reference collection of more than 2,400 documents on the application of
markup language standards. More than 80,000 people visit this site each
month, and many rely on its What's New column for daily updates on XML
resources and industry initiatives.

“The XML Cover Pages play a unique role in the XML industry,” said Jon Bosak
(Sun Microsystems), organizer of the working group that created XML. “Robin
has been the reference librarian for markup technology since before most of
the world was aware that such a thing existed. The XML Cover Pages continue
to be the authoritative guide to everything worth knowing about XML and
SGML.”

“Everyone likes to say they support open standards. Sponsoring the XML Cover
Pages gives my company the opportunity to stand out as a genuine advocate of
XML standardization,” commented Carla Corkern, vice president of Isogen, an
original OASIS sponsor of the Cover site. “The exposure we receive from the
XML Cover Pages is worth more to us--and says more about the kind of company
we are--than any other marketing program I can imagine.”

The XML Cover Pages provide a comprehensive index of links to online XML
tutorials and introductions, descriptions of XML user groups, SIGS, and
industry consortia, case studies, detailed conference, workshop and seminar
listings, categorized descriptions of XML software, contact information for
developers and service providers, technical reference materials for XML
implementers and programmers, answers to frequently-asked-questions and
information on standards related to XML.

“The XML Cover Pages serve as a pre-competitive resource for XML development
and support,” explained Laura Walker, executive director of OASIS. “The site
also offers assistance to users who are evaluating the merits of XML as an
enabling technology, helping them explore its potential for their
information management and publishing needs.”

The XML Cover Pages is currently sponsored by three OASIS Members, Isogen
International, Sun Microsystems and webMethods. For information on
additional sponsorship opportunities, contact: Laura Walker, executive
director of OASIS at laura.walker@oasis-open.org.
