Subject: Documentum chooses Arbortext XML-based e-Content software to power Web-based online help application

Documentum chooses Arbortext XML-based e-Content software to power Web-based
online help application

Leverages Arbortext’s powerful capabilities for accessing and publishing
‘help’ content

ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 11, 2000 -- Arbortext, Inc., a leading provider of
Extensible Markup Language (XML)-based e-Content software, announced today
that Documentum, Inc. (Nasdaq: DCTM) has purchased Arbortext’s XML authoring
and publishing products for in-house use in providing advanced online help
features in Documentum’s industry-leading content management solutions.

Documentum Web applications display help content specific to the level of
expertise of each user, based on their role, increasing their efficiency and
helping companies to decentralize content contribution.

“Documentum fully understands the need to reuse content in a Web environment
and how XML makes that easier,” said Robert Carel, Documentum’s technical
publications manager, Web client applications. “Arbortext’s ability to
leverage XML makes it possible for Documentum to provide business users, Web
teams, and administrators with the most pertinent help content, from one
data source, viewable on-line or in PDF.”

Besides single source on-line help and PDF, Arbortext’s powerful support for
XML authoring, integrated with Documentum’s secure XML repository, makes it
possible to create a product knowledge base that can be easily navigated by
end users across the enterprise. Arbortext product features include
compound document editing of reusable information objects from Documentum’s
content repository, an important component of its Open Content Architecture.

In today’s intensely competitive business environment, it’s critical to
deliver richer, more personalized information to the Web to help customers
make faster, better decisions,” said David White, director of product
marketing at Arbortext. “Arbortext and Documentum have developed a
help-content publishing solution that benefits everyone, from employees to
customers.”
