HyperVision Announces Research Partnership with University of Western
Ontario

HyperVision Ltd. has announced a research partnership with the Grail+
Research Group of the University of Western Ontario, Canada. The
partnership will enable HyperVision to use the Grail+ library in its WorX
product line. The key products for HyperVision, WorX™ and WorX SE (Standard
Edition), enable users to associate a semantic layer to Microsoft® Word
documents. Using WorX, users can prepare XML documents from within Microsoft
Word.

WorX includes a context interpretation engine that allows automatic
recognition and markup of XML elements. This presents a truly tagless
environment for authors and allows them to focus on the creation of content.
The use of Grail+ in the context interpretation engine will allow for a
broader interpretation of the context.

Pradeep Jain, Vice President of Technology for HyperVision indicated that
the use of Grail+ would allow for the capture of non-deterministic content
models in WorX SE, making it easier for the user to associate the semantic
layer to the document content. Mr. Jain stated, "We are very excited about
the research partnership and the Grail+ library. The Grail+ library
represents more than a decade of research into Automata Theory. We are
looking forward to integrating it in WorX SE. We believe it will add a lot
of value to the final WorX SE product."

Dr Sheng Yu, coordinator of the Grail+ project at the University of Western
Ontario, said he is excited about the use of Grail+ in practical application
as well. He mentioned that “the focus of the Grail+ Group is to develop
efficient algorithms and representations for automata, grammars, and
expressions so that they can be used not only for research but also for
commercial applications.”

WorX SE is scheduled for release in July of this year. The Beta Version of
WorX SE will be available, through special arrangements prior to July. The
WorX technology is incorporated into Microsoft Word and uses Microsoft
XML-Data or standard DTD (Document Type Definition) for deriving the
semantic information. WorX SE provides for automatic recognition of
elements, real time building of the document structure, and seamless
integration with Microsoft Word for the creation of XML documents. WorX SE
is targeted for Word-2000 on the Windows NT and Windows-2000 platforms.

HyperVision has been delivering high-end information strategies and
consulting services since it’s incorporation in 1988. Most of these
services have focused on the enhancement of content-development business
activities. During the past 12 years HyperVision has had the opportunity to
provide advisory services to a number of prestigious clients.

Since 1988, HyperVision has worked closely with the California Legislative
Data Center, providing a variety of software solutions in support of legacy
and new applications. During the past 3 years, one such activity led to the
evolution of the WorX technology. WorX has become the most sophisticated
XML addition to Microsoft Word available in the market today.
The University of Western Ontario, established in 1878, ranks among the top
tier of research Universities in Canada. The Grail+ Research Group consists
of faculty members and graduate students in the Department of Computer
Science. Dr. Sheng Yu is the current group leader. The research activities
of the group have been focused on implementation and application of
automata, complexity of automata operations, and development of
automata-related algorithms and their implementation into programs.

Information and description of the WorX technology are available on the
Internet at http://www.hvltd.com. For a demonstration or for more
