Arbortext Publishes XML Europe 2000 Conference Proceedings

Harried to Harmonious - The Conference Proceedings Story

ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 18, 2000 -- Arbortext, Inc., a leading provider of Extensible
Markup Language (XML) –based e-content software for e-publishing, e-commerce, and B2B
e-marketplaces, today announced the availability of the case study, “Harried to
Harmonious: The Conference Proceedings Story.” This case study was developed based
on the recent success Arbortext enjoyed producing the Conference Proceedings for XML
Europe 2000.

Using Arbortext Epic e-content software, the XML Europe 2000 Conference Proceedings
were created and published in record time – three weeks from receipt of authors’
papers to creation of PostScript master files for printed copy, generation of PDF
files, and the creation of HTML for CD-ROMs.

Arbortext also offered the authors of this year’s conference proceedings the
opportunity to take advantage of Extend, a set of software and services that support
Application Service Provider (ASP) deployment of Arbortext’s XML-based e-Content
management software. With a secure, password-protected work area, authors were able
to draft and automatically provide conference organizers with their speeches,
providing a convenient way to enable a far-flung group of authors to quickly create
their presentations. Arbortext’s software can either be hosted on it’s customer’s
servers or on a third-party Web hosting service and is accessible using a standard
browser or a thin client.

“Using Arbortext’s Epic software reduced our time to results by as much as
two-thirds,” said Pamela Gennusa, XML Europe Conference Chair. “When the deadline
for submitted papers arrived, we had received 130% more papers than we’d received the
year before. I’m confident this was due to Arbortext providing this year’s authors
with Epic Editor, Word templates, and well-documented guidelines for the authoring
process.”

The Case Study: Harried to Harmonious - The Conference Proceedings Story

This case study will answer the following questions:
·	How were the XML Europe 2000 conference proceedings created to provide personalized
information for each attendee?
·	What factors were used to develop a document type that met conference requirements
for speaker notes, abstracts, biographies, papers and electronic presentations?
·	How did the system accommodate the presenter’s diverse and sometimes strong
personal styles when submitting papers?
·	How were the output requirements identified and what was done to achieve them?

Learn about the initial challenges that were faced, the response to those challenges,
and the benefits that were achieved by using a complete system based on Arbortext’s
e-content software.
