Sequoia Software and STC form Alliance to Deliver Broad Range of Enterprise
Application Connectivity for Sequoia's XPS(tm)

Relationship Provides Sequoia Customers with Proven Integration Solutions
for Linking Sequoia's XML-Pure Portal Server with Leading Enterprise
Applications

COLUMBIA, Md.-October 16, 2000-Sequoia Software Corporation (Nasdaq: SQSW),
a leading provider of XML-powered e-business software, today announced an
alliance with STC (Nasdaq: STCS), a leading global provider of eBusiness
Integration (eBI) solutions. Sequoia will leverage the STC e*Xchange
eBusiness Integration* Suite to enhance the connectivity of its XML-pure
portal server, XPS(tm). With this expanded integration capability, Sequoia
can provide customers rapid connectivity to many enterprise and e-business
applications from leading vendors including SAP, PeopleSoft, Siebel Systems,
Oracle, Sybase, Lotus Notes, Onyx, Clarify, and BroadVision.

"With companies expanding the role of the enterprise information portal,
the need for sophisticated application and business process integration
becomes more and more critical," said Harry Gould, vice president of Global
Alliances for STC. "This alliance allows companies to take advantage of
proven solutions from both STC and Sequoia Software, and provides them the
capability to rapidly link their enterprise applications with those of their
trading partners, channel partners and customers, presenting their users
with a single point of access to inter-enterprise information."

Sequoia XPS functions as an e-business command center, interconnecting an
organization's various islands of information and processes, often with
those of its customers, partners and suppliers, through a universal
Web-based interface. Many of these islands are "enterprise applications"
that support corporate manufacturing, financials, customer service or
administrative functions. The STC eBusiness integration platform provides
Sequoia customers with efficient solutions for tightly integrating XPS with
their enterprise applications, eliminating the need for custom built
connections, which can become costly to develop and maintain.

"Sequoia's relationship with STC will make it easier and faster for our
customers to connect and extend their 'siloed' enterprise
applications-driving a wide range of e-business functionality directly
through XPS," said Tom Craig, vice president, Business Development, Sequoia
Software. "We are very pleased to announce this alliance with STC, one of
the leading vendors in the e-business integration arena, and believe its
proven enterprise connectivity solutions offer our customers an excellent
option for extending enterprise applications, like Siebel, SAP and
PeopleSoft through XPS."
