Turbolinux Now Comes Bundled With Infoteria's High-performance XML Development Platform, iPEX
TurboLinux, making advances in business use, gives boost to XML application development

Boston, MA and Tokyo, Japan-December 11, 2000-TurboLinux Japan and Infoteria Corporation, the XML Software Company, announced an agreement to bundle Infoteria's high-performance XML development platform, iPEX 2.0TM, with Turbolinux Developer Edition.  Through this alliance, both companies hope to promote the development of XML-based business applications on the Linux platform, which continues to gain market strength.

Turbolinux remains the developer's choice in Japan. Kuniteru Kojima, President of TurboLinux Japan notes, "Last fiscal year, TurboLinux achieved a growth rate of 450%, and was recognized as the fastest growing Linux company worldwide. Recently, many businesses and organizations have decided to use Linux as their core operating system. Because of this, it has become increasingly important to provide a development environment for XML applications. We think that bundling iPEX with Turbolinux will lead to the rapid acceleration of full-fledged Linux-based business applications."

Yoichiro Hirano of Infoteria Corporation said, "Infoteria's Processing Engine for XML (iPEX) is a high performance, cross-platform, XML development platform that will cut your development time and reduce your development costs. iPEX provides many XML processing functions, certainly more than any other XML parser in the marketplace today. To date, iPEX has been successfully used in many business systems, such as Increment P Corporation's, a subsidiary of Pioneer Corp., best-selling MapFan digital mapping software, as well as in NTT Data's corporate purchasing support service, OrderIt. We are certain that bundling iPEX with Turbolinux, which today towers over the Japanese Linux market, will greatly accelerate the development of XML applications on Linux platforms."

TurboLinux chose Infoteria's latest version of iPEX, iPEX 2.0, for the Turbolinux Developer Edition. Infoteria's iPEX provides all the critical functionality needed by applications that handle XML data, including validating and non-validating parsers, support for DOM, SAX, XPath and XSLT. The Japanese versions of Turbolinux, Turbolinux Pro, Turbolinux Server, and Turbolinux Cluster Server are also planned to include iPEX. The Japanese version of Turbolinux Workstation 6.0 Limited Edition, the first product to have iPEX for Linux bundled with it, shipped in October 2000.
