TO HELP CUSTOMERS MOVE QUICKLY INTO E- BUSINESS

Data Conversion Solution Offers Smooth Migration of Enterprise Legacy Data
to XML


SAN RAMON, Calif. and MONCTON, NB - XML pioneer Software AG and Whitehill
Technologies, a leading provider of Internet infrastructure software, are
partnering to provide enterprises with a quick and reliable technology
system for converting their legacy data into XML, the emerging language of
E-Business.  The rapid conversion of legacy data to XML is made possible by
combining Software AG's Tamino* native XML database and Whitehill's
<xml>Transport* and Whitehill <xsl>Composer* products. Using these
solutions, organizations can transform any legacy data into a Web-based
format that can be easily manipulated on the desktop and used for dynamic
electronic business applications.   

Whitehill  <xml>Transport is engineered to generate pure XML from any source
and automate the transfer of this XML data to a repository, such as Software
AG's Tamino XML database.  Because Tamino stores XML data in a  "native"
format, developers can access the data immediately without additional
translation, saving time and reducing the risk of diminished performance,
data alteration or extra manual administration.

Once XML data is stored natively, customers can use Whitehill's desktop
development application, Whitehill <xsl> Composer, to manipulate the data
without having to do complex programming on the back end.  Whitehill
<xsl>Composer dynamically and automatically creates cascading style sheets
used to render electronic bills, statements and reports as well as for
XML/EDI data exchanges. Through a powerful GUI, a user can "drag and drop"
XML data elements from a menu-type environment directly into a browser.
With Whitehill <xsl>Composer, hand coding is replaced by WYSIWYG browser
displays, enabling users to quickly and easily design web-based business
information according to their immediate needs.
