FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FORMER IBM EXECUTIVES JOIN XMLSOLUTIONS' EXECUTIVE TEAM

MCLEAN, VA, JANUARY 11, 2001 -- XMLSolutions Corporation, a leading provider
of software for conducting XML-based direct materials procurement, today
announced the addition of two former IBM executives to the company's
executive team. Meagan Skaff has been named the Executive Vice President of
Marketplace Strategy and Bill Hagan has joined as the Executive Vice
President of the newly formed Solutions Practice at XMLSolutions.

Ron Shelby, XMLSolutions CEO and former Chief Information Officer (CIO) of
e-GM, where he lead General Motor's web development and the global rollout
of GM BuyPower, made the announcement today at company headquarters.
"Meagan and Bill will contribute tremendous credibility and intellectual
capital to our organization," said Shelby. "We are excited to have them
join the XMLSolutions team."

Similar to Mr. Shelby leaving a Global 100 company for this 150-person B2B
infrastructure company, Ms. Skaff and Mr. Hagan bring years of executive
experience at IBM and other blue-chip corporations to extend the foundation
for dynamic growth of XMLSolutions. "Both of them possess more than 20
years of technology-based experience, and their proven track records in
executive management and leadership at Global 100 and pre-IPO companies will
prove extremely valuable for our Marketing and Solutions Departments,"
Shelby continued.

Ms. Skaff will develop the company's comprehensive and cohesive
market-driven business strategy. Meagan will be responsible for evolving
the firm's Go-to-Market strategies, positioning XMLSolutions across all
business functionalities and tightening the linkage between markets,
strategy integration and implementation, and sales in targeted market
spaces. She will also assist in building and deploying a collaborative
process that drives quick, actionable strategic decision-making throughout
XMLSolutions.

Serving in a number of key roles, Ms. Skaff was a strategist and e-business
consulting leader to IBM and IBM clients, building strategies that leverage
information technology, especially Internet technologies to increase revenue
streams for strategic business growth. Most recently, she built, launched
and operated IBM's first web-based commercial consulting service. She won
IBM's e-Business Services Award for the successful introduction of this new
IBM initiative. Prior to that, Ms. Skaff was a Consulting Leader and
Strategist with KPMG and Nolan, Norton and Co., a premier information
technology and business strategy consulting firm.

"I look forward to further developing XMLSolutions' marketing strategies and
messages that leverage the unique value propositions of XMLSolutions'
software to Global 2000 companies," said Ms. Skaff. "By eliminating the
technology constraints that bind executives in the largest corporations from
implementing strategic e-commerce plans, XMLSolutions will free
organizations to exponentially expand their supply networks and dynamically
trade with companies and partners of all sizes."

Mr. Hagan will focus on product management, customer solutions, and channel
partner integration in the newly created Solutions Practice. Working
together with Ms. Skaff, he will deliver strategic business solutions to
focused markets needing custom applications.

Mr. Hagan was IBM's National Practice Executive for e-Intelligence offerings
and services and the Practice Executive for the Western Region's Business
Intelligence services. At American Express, he was the senior level Vice
President of Worldwide Information Management, managing 275 professionals
with global accountability for database management, data warehousing, and
information-based products. As their Vice President of Business System
Planning Finance, he also led the implementation of several global financial
applications. At Performance Development Corporation, Mr. Hagan was Vice
President of Information Management, where he managed and delivered major
solutions engagements to Fortune 500 companies, such as Mobil Oil, Canada
Post and Lafarge Corporation. Prior positions include systems development,
purchasing, cost accounting and internal audit.

"We have exciting opportunities to further develop customer solutions and
help Global 2000 companies successfully integrate and effectively utilize
new and developing Internet-based technology," said Mr. Hagan.
