Vordel’s TalkXML V2.3 is awarded Entrust-Ready™ designation

Dublin, Ireland – 5 March, 2001 – Vordel, a leading provider of
solutions for secure eBusiness communications, today announced that
Vordel’s product suite, TalkXML V2.3 has earned Entrust-Ready™ status
from Entrust Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: ENTU), the leading global
provider of Trust Relationship Management e-business solutions.
Corporations using the Entrust/PKI™ solution will now be able to use
the TalkXML secure communication solution, to extend and simplify
electronic business interaction with partners, suppliers and
end-customers within their specific business or enterprise network.

The need for secured Internet commerce is driving strong growth in the
security services market, which is expected to grow from US$5.5
billion in 1999 to over $17 billion by 2004, according to a recent
report by IDC.

Speaking at the announcement, David Ryan, CEO of Vordel, said: “The
attainment of technical interoperability between Vordel and Entrust
Technologies’ solutions is another example of our commitment to
deliver to our customers on the value of interoperability with global
leaders in the electronic security field. This development with
Entrust Technologies enables Vordel to offer an extensible, secured
eBusiness communication solution to enable authenticated eCommerce
transactions and data transfer in a wide range of industry sectors.”

“We are pleased that Vordel’s TalkXML product has been awarded
Entrust-Ready status, and we are committed to working with
organizations to develop products that leverage the Entrust/PKI
solution in new ways,” said Paul Doscher, executive vice president,
marketing and business development, Entrust Technologies. “This
technical integration between Vordel and Entrust® products will
provide our joint customers with a true end-to-end security solution
for important e-business transactions. The Entrust/PKI solution
provides the security infrastructure for the use of digital signatures
and encryption, while TalkXML provides the cohesive technology to
enable secure inter-enterprise electronic communications.”

Commenting on the announcement, Mark O’Neill Chief Technical Officer
of Vordel said; “Our commitment to using open standards ensures that
this latest version of TalkXML interoperating with Entrust/PKI
software will make it easier for customers to integrate secured
communication solutions into their IT networks. Enterprises using
Entrust/PKI software will now have the option of conducting secured
transactions involving exchanges of their sensitive commercial and
technical documents."

Other Entrust Technologies and Vordel partners commenting on the
announcement include Datakey and Gemplus, a leading provider of
token-based solutions for PKI and Gemplus the world's leading provider
of plastic and smart card-based solutions.

Andrew Leigh, Head of e-Business UK and Ireland at Gemplus, (Nasdaq:
GEMP) praised the attainment of interoperability with the Entrust PKI.
“Gemplus’s GemSAFE for ENTRUST product provides strong security for
Entrust/PKI users by storing the Entrust/PKI keys and associated
digital certificates into the tamper resistant smart card chip.
Interoperating with TalkXML allows our customers use Vordel’s
application for cohesive communication between enterprises and access
it securely using Gemplus’ range of solutions for PC and mobile
devices.”

Colleen Kulhanek, VP of Marketing at Datakey, Inc. (Nasdaq: DKEY),
said: “Datakey smart cards already play an important role in many
environments using the Entrust/PKI software by offering portable,
two-factor security for Entrust digital credentials. Because Datakey
smart cards also seamlessly interoperate with Vordel’s TalkXML,
Entrust customers who deploy TalkXML now can use their Datakey smart
cards to digitally sign and encrypt TalkXML Internet forms. This
seamless interoperability between Vordel, Entrust Technologies and
Datakey technology simplifies deployment time while also ensuring the
most secure and convenient eBusiness infrastructure for our joint
