For Immediate Release CHRYSTAL SOFTWARE ADDS TO EXECUTIVE TEAM Invests for Growth in Enterprise Web Content Management March 21, 2001, San Diego, CA - Chrystal Software, a Xerox (NYSE: XRX) New Enterprise Company, has expanded its executive team with the addition of Dr. Willie Lim as Chief Technology Officer; Ron Swartz as Vice President of Business Development; and Jeff Fassett as Vice President of Marketing. These new additions to the management team will help Chrystal Software grow in the enterprise Web content management market, with focus on particular vertical market segments that can best leverage Chrystal's leading XML-based technology. Dr. Lim has more than 20 years of experience in software technology. He was Vice President with Lehman Brothers, in charge of the firm's Information Management Technology group that developed and maintained a global enterprise infrastructure capable of supporting the timely and guaranteed delivery of hundreds of thousands of trade-related messages daily. Dr. Lim was also the Chief Technology Officer of KidzMedia, Inc., an application service provider for Home-Helper and other educational tools such as Essay Maker, Term Paper Builder, and e-Flashcards for the teen- and college-age markets. Dr. Lim has also worked at Northrop-Grumman, MIT Laboratory, and MIT Lincoln Laboratory. He holds a Ph.D. in artificial intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a master's in electrical engineering and a masters' in computer science, both from the Washington University, St. Louis. He has been published more than 30 times in industry publications in several areas including parallel computing. Swartz will oversee the development of a variety of new content management applications and foster new business alliances in highly regulated industries, including pharmaceutical, power generation and distribution, and government. Prior to joining Xerox, Swartz founded ESPS, Inc. The company's production software system, CoreDossier(tm), a high-end commercial production software system for the management and publishing of regulatory dossiers, is currently used by 50 of the top pharmaceutical and healthcare companies worldwide. Swartz also has strong technical expertise gained through positions with Sterling Winthrop Pharmaceuticals, GE Aerospace, Commodore Semiconductor, and Leeds & Northrup. He has a bachelor's degree in computer and informational science from Temple University and a master's degree in computer science from Villanova University. Fassett joins Chrystal Software as Vice President of Marketing, bringing nine years of software/Internet marketing and general management experience to the company. Fassett spent the past three years with Informix Software, a Menlo Park, CA-based enterprise database vendor. He most recently served as Director of Product Management for Informix's "Arrowhead" initiative, an e-business platform encompassing a database, application server, development tools, and management tools. Previously, Fassett was in charge of defining and delivering Informix's overall strategy and product roadmap for Web technologies, focused on Java/J2EE and XML. Before joining Informix, Fassett held various marketing/management positions with IBM promoting Java technologies, with America Online's "AOL Brand" division, and with a software startup in San Diego, CA. He received a master's degree in business administration from Georgetown University and a bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
