OASIS Members to Choose from Top Industry Leaders for Board of Directors

Boston, MA, USA; 22 May 2001--OASIS, the XML interoperability
consortium, today announced that it has received 13 nominations to its
Board of Directors. Michael Abbott of Electron Economy, Tim Browne of
Infoteria Corporation, James Constas of Active Education, Rik Drummond
of the Drummond Group, Colin Evans of Intel, Jim Hughes of
Hewlett-Packard, Christopher Kurt of Microsoft, Willie Lim of Chrystal
Software, Simon Nicholson of Sun Microsystems, Enrique Salem of Oblix,
Ted Smykla of IPNet Solutions, Michael Weiner of IBM and Sinisa Zimek of
SAP have all been nominated to fill the four open positions on the
Consortium’s Board.

“We are impressed by the caliber of industry leaders who are interested
in serving on the OASIS Board,” commented Laura Walker, executive
director of OASIS. “The diversity of backgrounds of these individuals
and their companies is notable. From the largest international

Microsystems--to cutting edge software providers--Chrystal Software,
Electron Economy, Infoteria Corporation, IPNet Solutions and Oblix--to
well respected educators and consultancies--Active Education and the
Drummond Group--these nominees represent an exciting cross-section of
the XML community.”

The OASIS Board of Directors is elected by the Consortium’s membership.
OASIS Board members serve two-year terms, which are staggered annually
to preserve continuity. This year, terms will expire for current
directors, Eric Garcia of Sabre, Alan Hestor of Xerox Corporation, Bill
Smith of Sun Microsystems and Dr. Robert Sutor of IBM. Other members of
the Board, Patrick Gannon of BEA Systems, Una Kearns of Documentum and
Norbert Mikula of DataChannel, will continue their OASIS service until
2002.

OASIS Board of Directors elections will take place during June with
final results expected by mid-July.
