Leading Investment Bank Selects SoftQuad XMetaL For
Enterprise-Wide XML Content Creation
TORONTO, ON - June 27, 2001 - SoftQuad Software, Ltd. (OTC BB:
SXML), an internationally recognized developer of XML-enabling
technologies and e-business solutions, today announced that one of
the world's leading investment banks has entered into an agreement
to purchase 500 SoftQuad XMetaL licenses in the first phase of a
planned enterprise-wide rollout. The agreement includes a
three-year support and maintenance contract calculated on a
percentage basis of the cumulative license agreement value. Under
the terms of the agreement, the customer may significantly
increase its number of XMetaL licenses at any time, with the total
value of the contract increasing accordingly.
"Leading-edge companies have identified new opportunities to
enhance value by leveraging their knowledge assets through
Internet technologies. Increasingly, organizations are recognizing
the benefits of XML as a key enabler for content-intensive
enterprise applications," said Roberto Drassinower, CEO of
SoftQuad. "This agreement is indicative of the growing number of
opportunities we are seeing for larger deployments of XMetaL for
the creation of XML-based business content."
XML (eXtensible Markup Language) is a World Wide Web standard for
structured document formatting and online information exchange.
XML enables organizations to share and re-use information across
all e-business functions within the enterprise and with outside
entities such as partners, customers and suppliers.
SoftQuad XMetaL is an award-winning XML editor and development
platform for creating XML content applications. XMetaL enables
everyone within an organization to create XML content without
knowing anything about XML. It eliminates the cost and delays
associated with converting documents from other formats, thus
accelerating the delivery of business content to multiple
destinations, such as Web, CD-ROM, wireless devices and print.
XMetaL can be seamlessly integrated into content management and
other e-business applications.
