Subject: Arbortext Provides Epic Editor 4.2 to XML 2001 Conference Authors
Arbortext Provides Epic Editor 4.2 Software to XML 2001 Conference Authors ANN ARBOR, Mich., October 1, 2001 -- Arbortext, Inc., the only global provider of XML-based software that enables the creation, editing and publishing of information from a single-source of content to multiple media types, today announced it is providing its newest software, Epic Editor version 4.2, to the XML 2001 Conference authors for writing their conference papers. Conference authors can take advantage of many new capabilities this latest version supports including, collaboration through change tracking, inline editing of document components, and easier conversion of multiple content formats to XML. Epic Editor’s change tracking capability fully supports the process of shared information creation, review and approval so that groups of authors can work collaboratively to create papers for this year’s conference proceedings. “We’re happy to provide Epic Editor 4.2 to this year’s authors and continue our long-standing support of this conference,” said PG Bartlett, vice president marketing for Arbortext. “XML 2001 brings together some of the brightest minds from around the world to discuss the latest technology, trends, and new products. Providing copies of Epic Editor to the authors is another way to support this exciting conference.” Through its long-standing leadership role in XML, Arbortext continues to protect its customers’ investment by developing standards-compliant software for single-source multichannel publishing. Arbortext’s recent release of Epic version 4.2 builds on that tradition with the following enhanced collaboration features and expanded support of XML standards: · Change tracking. Provides groups of authors the ability to track text and markup changes made to a document. · Publishing standards support. With Epic 4.2, Arbortext now provides the industry’s most powerful support for the Extensible Stylesheet Language (XSL), through its embedded XSLT processing engine and XSL-FO processing engine. Arbortext has tuned these engines to handle long, complex documents that require high-quality formatting. · Inline editing of compound documents. Enables authors to edit document components directly within the same window instead of launching separate windows. When an author tries to change a component, Epic Editor automatically checks it out or protects it from changes, based on an inquiry to the repository. · Format conversion. Epic Editor’s enhanced mapping function reduces development time by 75% for setting up conversions from other publishing sources to XML (and from XML to those sources). · Content management. Version 4.2 continues Epic Editor’s tight integration with many content management systems with support for the latest releases of Documentum (version 4.2) and Oracle iFS (version 1.1.9). · Programming standards support. Through Epic Editor’s new support for JavaScript, existing bindings to Java, C/C++ and COM, and enhanced support for the W3C’s Document Object Model (DOM) API, developers can create customizations using their preferred programming languages. Epic Editor supports DOM Ranges and Level 2 events. · CJK support. Epic Editor 4.2 provides editing support for Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean and Japanese content.
