Subject: [announce] Wolters Kluwer Selects Arbortext

Wolters Kluwer Selects Arbortext Epic Editor for XML Content Creation,
Conversion and Publishing

ANN ARBOR, Mich., January 7, 2002 -- Arbortext, Inc., the only global
provider of XML-based software that enables the creation, editing and
publishing of information to multiple media types from a single source
of content, today announced that Wolters Kluwer selected its Epic
software for XML content creation and will implement the Epic E-Content
Engine (E3) for multichannel publishing. Wolters Kluwer is a
multinational information services company with annual sales of
approximately EUR 3.7 billion and employing approximately 19,000 people.

Wolters Kluwer joins 3,500 companies who have chosen Arbortext’s Epic
software for single source, multichannel publishing. Epic was selected
because it enabled Wolters Kluwer to reduce publishing costs and
increase author productivity.

Ton Schoonderbeek, Chief Technology Officer for Legal, Tax and Business
Europe at Wolters Kluwer said, “A large, multinational organization such
as ours requires technology that can be easily deployed. Arbortext’s
reputation for delivering reliable solutions that work is the major
factor why we selected their Epic software. The scalability ensures we
can grow without having to worry about re-engineering our
infrastructure, ultimately saving us time and money."

Using Arbortext's Extend implementation, Wolters Kluwer is able to offer
browser-based use of the Epic software to its authors located throughout
the organization and in multiple locations, giving them the ability to
collaborate as if they were working in the same office. Extend, a set
of software and services that support ASP deployment of Epic, also
provides Wolters Kluwer with greater flexibility, convenience, security
and cost effectiveness in deploying Arbortext’s Epic software.

“Large, multinational organizations are continuing to choose Arbortext
products,” said Nathan Birtle, Regional Vice President of Europe for
Arbortext. “These organizations understand how critically important it
is that all divisions benefit from consistent corporate standards, and
using our Epic software enables the authors to take advantage of having
the most current, complete and correct information available to them as
they create and maintain their information material.”
