Subject: [announce] OASIS Member News: XML Global Receives GSA Approval
--------------------------------------------------------------- XML Global Receives GSA Approval to Provide Products and Services to the US Federal Government --------------------------------------------------------------- New York, N.Y., February 25th, 2002 - XML Global Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: XMLG), an XML middleware company, announced today that it has been awarded approval from the General Services Administration (GSA) to sell its breakthrough XML-based products and services directly to the US government. Federal business development offices, offices of electronic commerce, government strategic planning/marketing and IT offices can now obtain products and services from XML Global without having to tender for a competitive bid. As one of the first XML product vendors to sell directly to US federal agencies, collectively the biggest purchasers of goods and services in the US, XML Global is well positioned to tap into the huge government customer base and to continue gaining momentum in the emerging XML market. XML Global Technologies has already completed work for several government agencies including the US Defense Finance Accounting Service (DFAS) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The GSA approval represents a significant step in XML Global Technologies Inc.'s strategy to provide government e-Business solutions by adapting the company's core XML product range to the unique needs of government. XML Global's public sector expertise, combined with its knowledge of the unique business needs of the federal government, are key to providing the level of service and commitment needed to successfully win and complete government engagements. The GSA, a central management agency in the federal government, is focused on enabling federal employees to access supplies, services and solutions at the best possible value. In working with the GSA, XML Global has negotiated fixed pricing for government buyers that guarantees them specific rates on its technology offerings. In so doing, the government is now allowed to work with XML Global directly for purchase requests of up to $500,000 for software, $500,000 for IT Professional Services and $25,000 for training. Without a GSA contract in place, government agencies must make open invitations for bids and evaluate competitive proposals. "We anticipate an increase in sales and business activity as a result of this GSA approval," said Gordon Ebanks, Executive Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for XML Global, "and we look forward to working closely with the US federal government on a wide range of XML based e-Business initiatives."
