Arbortext Completes Record First Quarter
Signs AutoZone, Convergys and, KBC Bank of Belgium among new customers


ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 29, 2002 -- Arbortext, Inc., the only global
provider of XML-based software for multichannel publishing, today
announced that it completed a record first quarter ending March 31, 2002.
The continued growth was supported by the addition of many new customers,
including AutoZone (NYSE: AZO), Convergys (NYSE: CVG) and KBC Bank of
Belgium.

“Arbortext continues to perform beyond market conditions to meet its
target revenues, placing it among the top 10 percent of technology
companies,” said Promod Haque, managing partner of Norwest Venture
Partners, a lead investor for Arbortext.  “Arbortext’s strong revenues
and its ability to attract new customers in the midst of a difficult
economy affirm the company’s value proposition and compelling ROI.”

Arbortext’s Epic products enable organizations to create a single source
of information and automatically publish dynamic content for multiple
audiences and to multiple types of media: Web, print, CD-ROM, wireless

offers, including delivering dynamic content that adapts to the needs of

Q1 Highlights
Continuing to strengthen its strategic alliances, Arbortext entered into
partnerships with Accenture (NYSE:ACN), Flatirons Solutions Corporation
and CTX Corporation.  These partners are working with Arbortext to build
solution-oriented applications for large, multinational organizations in
industries such as automotive, publishing, finance and government.

Arbortext signed many new customers in the quarter ending March 31, 2002,
bringing the total customer count to more than 3,600.  Leading companies
signed in Q1 include AutoZone, Convergys Corporation, Europa
Publications, Ltd., and KBC Bank of Belgium.

Arbortext also saw reorders from many of its larger customers, including
General Motors, SAS Institute, Northrup Grumman and Nokia Networks.
