Subject: [announce] Canadian Pharmacists Association Selects Arbortext
Canadian Pharmacists Association Selects Arbortext to Create and Deliver the Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties ANN ARBOR, Mich., September 24, 2002 -- Arbortext, Inc., the only global provider of XML-based software for multichannel publishing, today announced the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), a voluntary organization of pharmacists, has selected the Arbortext product suite to create and deliver the Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties (CPS), a pharmaceutical reference guide for health care professionals in Canada. The CPS provides drug monographs representing 4,000 drugs and is delivered to most physicians and all CPhA member pharmacists in Canada. The 2,200 page guide is produced annually with 80,000 copies in English and 20,000 copies in French. CPhA also publishes the Compendium of Self Care Products, Patient Self-Care, Herbs, and Therapeutic Choices. “Arbortext understands the requirements and intricacy of drug information,” said Leesa Bruce, Senior Director of Publications for the Canadian Pharmacists Association. “We publish incredibly complex information with a tremendous liability of not done correctly, and we believe that Arbortext understands the implications of this complexity and liability better than any other vendor.” CPhA’s business is based on the accuracy and timeliness of the drug information it provides. Through a combination of Epic Editor, the Epic E-Content Engine (E3) and Interchange, its authors are able to streamline the life cycle of that information from creation to publication in order to perform more updates at a lower cost. “CPhA’s mission is to provide Canada’s health care professionals with credible, authoritative and unbiased drug information,” said PG Bartlett, Vice President, Marketing for Arbortext. “Arbortext’s products enable them to achieve that goal at a lower cost through a single source of information that supports the creation and delivery of each publication to print, Web and PDA.” CPhA expects to streamline the creation of its publications, ultimately slashing production costs, reducing the time to market, and improving the freshness of information that is delivered. CPhA also expects to offer its customers more customized publications to fit individual requirements.
