Subject: [announce] ANN: Topic Map Seminar in Tokyo
In the information society effective management of information and knowledge assets is a crucial part of any business strategy. Topic maps are a new ISO standard (ISO/IEC 13250) in the XML standards family for organising and managing information and knowledge. Topic maps index information resources and capture the relationships between concepts. Topic Maps allow you for the first time to codify knowledge and bridge the gap between information and knowledge. This seminar gives a practical introduction to topic maps focusing on understanding the technology and its applications in real-life projects. The course instructor will be Lars Marius Garshol, co-author of the new ISO 13250 standard and co-editor of the Topic Map Query Language standard, who will speak in English. An interpreter will simultaneously interpret into Japanese. For much more information about the seminar in both English and Japanese, see <URL: http://www.ontopia.net/ontopia/events/tokyo-2002.html > -- Lars Marius Garshol, Ontopian <URL: http://www.ontopia.net > ISO SC34/WG3, OASIS GeoLang TC <URL: http://www.garshol.priv.no >
