Subject: [announce] DataPower and Contivo Offer Complete Standards-based XMLIntegration Solution

DATAPOWER AND CONTIVO OFFER COMPLETE STANDARDS-BASED XML INTEGRATION
SOLUTION

Integrated Contivo EIM and DataPower XA35 XML Accelerator Delivers Fast
XML Integration

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.-December 10, 2002 - DataPower Technology, Inc., the
leading provider of intelligent XML-aware network infrastructure, today
announced a joint marketing and development agreement with Contivo,
Inc., the leading provider of automated data integration, to integrate
the Contivo Enterprise Integration Modeling (EIM)T solution with the
DataPower XA35 XML AcceleratorT. The joint solution provides
enterprise customers with a complete standards-base XML integration
solution providing unparalleled data modeling and the world's fastest
XML data transformation technology to significantly reduce time and
money spent on integration services.

"XML has changed the way enterprises integrate disparate applications,"
said Eugene Kuznetsov, Chief Technology Officer at DataPower. "The
partnership with Contivo allows DataPower customers to easily create and
manage very complex data-mappings between previously incompatible
schemas. The result is a radically faster, cheaper and more scalable way
of doing XML-based integration."

In the past, for every $1 Million spent on integration software, another
$3-5 Million was spent on customized services. XML provides an open,
standards-based approach to inter- and intra-enterprise integration that
promises to alleviate the costs of customized coding and integration.
Contivo's platform-independent model-based semantic server automates the
design and management of data integration. By enabling model reuse and
collaboration across the enterprise, Contivo removes the need to
repeatedly hand-code transformations or become locked into proprietary
systems. But the complex data transformations required for XML-based
integration are very resource-intensive when utilizing software-based
XSLT products, and can create serious performance bottlenecks.

"By combining our model-based data design environment with DataPower's
XA35 XML Accelerator, we are enabling our joint customers and prospects
to leverage the best of today's XML transformation design environments
with a hardware-based transformation appliance", said Dave Hollander,
Chief Technology Officer at Contivo. "Current software-based XSLT
transformation engines can create serious performance bottlenecks that
hinder our customers' efforts to fully leverage XML in their complex,
business transformations."

DataPower's XA35 - based on its patent-pending XG3T XML processing
technology - provides the world's fastest XML data transformation
engine. In a jointly conducted test, the XA35 was able to execute
Contivo transaction mappings over 15 times faster than transactions
attempted in general-purpose software. In addition to its performance
edge, the XA35 is very easy to setup and manage. While Contivo's
product helps enterprises scale their data mapping projects, DataPower's
XA35 helps them scale the actual XML processing. The combined
scalability solution announced today means that enterprises can easily,
quickly and affordably model, design and run complex business
integration projects with the full benefits of XML without performance
or complexity barriers.
