Subject: [announce] XTRADYNE releases High-Performance Web Services Firewall

XTRADYNE releases High-Performance Web Services Firewall
September 1, 2003

BERLIN/FRANKFURT - Xtradyne Technologies, the leading vendor for application
security gateways, today announced the general availability of version 1.3 of
its Web Services Domain Boundary Controller (WS-DBC) product, a comprehensive
Web Services security solution. The WS-DBC lets enterprises securely expose Web
Services to the Internet without compromising security at either applications or
enterprise firewalls.

The WS-DBC is a platform and vendor neutral SOAP gateway that implements Web
Services standards including SOAP, WSDL, WS-Security, SAML, and XML Digital
Signature. The WS-DBC can be easily integrated into existing Web Services
infrastructures without modifying applications, and provides WS-Security and
unified security management across diverse platforms, such as Microsoft .NET,
IBM WebSphereTM, BEA WebLogic, Java WSDK, IONA ASP, and Systinet WASP.

According to Dr. Gerald Brose, Product Manager Web Services at Xtradyne, the
WS-DBC is an essential building block for a successful Web Services strategy.
"Security is the most pressing concern for any production use of Web Services",
Brose said. "With the WS-DBC, Xtradyne provides high-performance security to the
enterprise that is both reliable and low-overhead. The platform neutrality of
the WS-DBC lets customers integrate it in their systems in a matter of a few
hours and causes very low overhead costs. Exposing a Web Service securely using
the WSDL import features of the new WS-DBC 1.3 version is extremely simple."

As a pure software solution, the new WS-DBC version 1.3 offers full deployment
flexibility and timely releases of new security standards. The WS-DBC in its new
version matches the XML processing speed of the fastest hardware-based
appliances, but without the disadvantages of proprietary hardware. The WS-DBC is
supported on the Solaris 8 and 9 platforms, and on Linux.

Key features of the WS-DBC include:

* Extremely high performance and throughput
* Pre-built, productized SOAP security without any programming
* Convenient service exposure using WSDL
* Powerful SAML support, including flexible SAML injection capabilities
* Security integration of various service platforms
* Unified security management, and simple administration with powerful,
  remote graphical administration console
* Expressive policy models, and fine-grained, role-based access control (RBAC)
* Maximum enterprise integration and B2B support through federated trust,
  using SAML and credentials mappings
* rich set of authentication mechanisms for users, servers, and intermediaries
* Message validation using XML schema
* Message content filtering
* Message integrity and confidentiality
* Transport security using SSL/TLS
* Powerful Policy Server for enterprise-level security management of multiple
  different gateways
* OCSP support for certificate revocation checks
* support for SSL accelerator cards
* Enterprise integration with LDAP support
