Subject: [announce]Oasis Member News: Accordare Partners with DataPower to Scale High-Value B2B Connections

ACCORDARE PARTNERS WITH DATAPOWER TO SCALE HIGH-VALUE B2B CONNECTIONS

DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway/Accordare Reflector Unified Solution
Reduces the Complexity and Deployment Costs for Secure XML Networks between
Enterprise Systems Using ebXML, OAGIS ,RosettaNet or Any XML Specification

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - January 13, 2003 - DataPower Technology, Inc., the
creators of intelligent XML-Aware Network (XAN) infrastructure, along with
Accordare, the leaders in building XML-based business "bridges", announced
today a partnership aimed at easing the creation and ongoing maintenance of
XML-based trading partner connections. The agreement combines Accordare's
Reflector and DataPower's award-winning XS40 XML Security Gateway to provide
an intelligent e-business mediation point. The combined offering delivers
instant "no-coding" XML security, eases coping with mismatched XML business
document formats, detects common business process protocol interoperability
errors, helps debug disagreements over security and standards
specifications, and swiftly overcomes other real-world obstacles to
launching and maintaining electronic business connections.

"Real-world XML-based partner integration, whether based on ebXML or Web
services standards, is complex, expensive, and lengthy. Accordare has unique
technology to greatly reduce the time and cost required to deploy and manage
each B2B connection," said Bret Hartman, VP of Technology Solutions at
DataPower. "Together with DataPower's easy-to-deploy XML security,
transformation and routing hardware, the combined offering helps enterprises
realize the value of XML without becoming experts in XML interoperability."

XML provides enterprises with a universal data-encoding format for
connecting transaction systems, but XML also presents several critical
barriers to adoption: high set-up costs driven by incompatible business
process specifications (schemas); performance bottlenecks caused by its
verbose nature; grave security risks resulting from connecting high-value
systems; and ongoing operational complexity caused by interoperability
challenges, new security threats and failures of established connections due
to uncoordinated partner system upgrades. Accordare's Reflector, a
collaborative XML testing and monitoring intermediary, is currently being
used by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as part of
the National Business-to-Business Testbed. By combining Accordare's
Reflector and the DataPower XML Security Gateway(tm), a "drop-in" network
device purpose-built to provide complete XML Web services security and
wirespeed XML performance, enterprises can now eliminate these barriers and
get business-to-business transactions flowing "live" in record time.

"Accordare enables enterprises to quickly establish and easily scale
transaction systems based on XML messages, but, as these connections grow
and traffic increases, companies will require the use of a common message
gateway to secure and route this XML traffic in the network. A network
hardware approach eases the management complexity of securing multiple,
often heterogeneous systems," said Bill Harrelson, President & CEO of
Accordare. "Because of its robust security features, its drop-in ease of
use and wirespeed performance, DataPower's XS40 XML Security Gateway is the
perfect technology complement to our Reflector product for building trusted
XML-based bridges for multi-party transactions."
