Member News: Fujitsu Limited, Hitachi, Ltd., and NEC Corporation Announc

Fujitsu Limited, Hitachi, Ltd., and NEC Corporation today announced that they are making available as open source their jointly developed messaging software RM4GS that implements the Web Services Reliability (WS-Reliability) OASIS standard, a messaging specification for Web services designed to ensure superior reliability. The software is available for download free of charge at the Web site of the Information-Technology Promotion Agency, Japan (<http://businessgrid.ipa.go.jp/rm4gs/index-en.html>).

The software provides reliable messaging functions that prevent the loss of messages and the duplication of messages in transit. By making SOAP messaging highly reliable in a way that is transparent to applications, the software eliminates the need for these applications to address transmission reliability issues.

Since July of 2003, the three firms have jointly pursued the development of middleware software for the realization of grid computing as part of the Business Grid Computing Project(2) promoted by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).
